Guy cannot be gone...

Guy cannot be gone. And so he is not. He is smiling that sly smile that makes you think he knows something you don’t know. He’s giving you a hug in those big arms that don’t let go. I cannot let him go. And so I will not. I will keep him here with me and remember his good heart and his strength of character and his sweet laugh and the hundreds and hundreds of friends who loved him, too, and who will keep his memory alive with me, and who will make sure he is not gone. Never gone. He cannot be gone.

My sentiments exactly.... Guy was a wonderful, supportive person and I will miss his smile and his great sense of humor. I'll miss his advocacy for all of our members and students, and his insights into the work of providing equity for all. Thanks, Guy - I learned from you and will always remember you.
When I arrived for my first NEA BOD meeting, I didn't know what to expect. With Guy's friendship and support, everything made sense. He added his unique sense of humor and empathy to every issue, and I will always remember how he made the Association, our profession, and the world better and more filled with love. Thank you, Guy, for being such a special part of our lives.
